Town centre squares

The laying out of Pessac’s emblematic spaces meets three needs : creation of links between the northern and southern districts and the town centre, extension of the central public spaces and using them to create a lively atmosphere in the town centre. The project places emphasis on developing continuity and coherence.
A one metre wide solid wood strip runs across the entire site, organising it by successively incorporating the church, the high school esplanade, the main square and the heart of the new sector. Just a single flooring finish is used – black and pale grey granite – to express the simplicity of the approach and the easy readability of the space.
