Development of the Vitry / Les Ardoines plan-guide

Les Ardoines – Vitry-Sur-Seine

The Ardoines area is currently separated from the rest of the town due to the lack of a bridge over the river Seine, dividing railway tracks and insufficient access routes. The main development lever for this site calls for developing the area’s accessibility. The project proposes reconfiguring activities, removing the fuel depots, dismantling the EDF coal-fired power station and reorganising the railway rights of way. The resulting freed land would permit the creation of a new mixed district along the Seine with, in the long term, housing, activities, offices, shops and amenities. This considerable change would give the area a new dynamic and form part of a sustainable city approach. Above all, the project aims to maintain and reinforce Vitry’s economic development by, among other measures, providing a home for new companies. The Grand Paris Express circle line automatic metro will serve the Ardoines station, allowing it to become a vital exchange hub on the scale of the Paris metropolis and a new centrality for the local district and the town of Vitry-sur-Seine. This station project associates mixed programmes with the transport spaces to ensure that the infrastructure becomes a focal point of activities and not just an intermediary route from one place to another: sports and cultural amenities, leisure spaces, shops, showcase for a local Biotech centre, offices and services will find their place within the complex.
