Au bout des Doigts – Restaurant

Lille

The five storey building above a busy restaurant in the Vieux-Lille district is clad in a Corten® steel grid, constructed from externally insulated KLH laminated structural wood panels and protected by rectified poplar-wood cladding. The Corten® steel envelope cladding the loggias, stairwell and façade unifies the complex volumes that comply with the constraints of the local urban development plan, respects the surrounding architectures and reduces the visual scale of this five storey building rising up from a base inserted into a fabric of town houses. The building contains an innovative programme combining arts and crafts activities on two levels above the restaurant and, on the upper floors, a single-family home over three levels served by a same staircase. The generous and atypical volumes provide views over the Hospice Comtesse, domes and belfries as well as Euralille in the distance.
