79 Housing Units
In a suburban fabric currently undergoing considerable change, this operation grouping together three plots – two occupied by housing and one by light industry – organises the various scales typical of the Lilas district and which range from single family homes to 1960s housing blocks. The programme also respects the typology of the paths and routes running through the urban fabric of these suburbs. Thus, buildings of different heights find themselves organised around, on the one hand, a lane and, on the other, a courtyard onto which the town’s services give on ground floor level. Private gardens bring greenery to the lane, providing views from the street over these secret passages with their intimate landscaping that are so characteristic of these suburbs. Detailed work on the sitting of the buildings and the use of irregular façades allows each housing unit to benefit from generous views with no facing buildings despite a relatively high level of constructed density.
